CoAB proudly presents its inaugural group exhibition, 'Be Coming Home', opening on September 21 at Arise Artspace. The exhibition title comes from the artwork <Home Be Coming > by Korean diaspora artist Yong Soon Min (1953-2024), who immigrated to the U.S. at a young age and explored her minority and immigrant identity through her practice. The exhibition will showcase new works by seven artists of diverse backgrounds as their stories cross paths in Busan, the city where they now reside. The artworks explore universal sentiments surrounding 'home,' going beyond limited temporal and spatial definitions to visually examine complex social phenomena. In particular, the exhibition seeks to uncover layers of questions surrounding 'home' that participating artists have intuitively gravitated toward.

코아브 (COAB)의 첫 단체 전시회 Be Coming Home을 9월 21 일 어라이즈 아트스페이스에서 개최합니다. 전시 제목인 Be Coming Home은 1953년 한국전쟁 중 한국에서 태어난 후 몇 해 지나지 않아 미국으로 이주하여 생애동안 미국 내 소수자 및 이민 자의 정체성을 고민한 작품을 전개해 온 코리안 디아스포라 작가인 민용순의 작품 <Home Be Coming>에서 착안되었습니다. 이번 전시에 참여하는 7인의 작가들은 각자 다양한 배경을 가졌지만 부 산이라는 한 도시에 머무르게 된 교차점을 가지며, 'Home'을 둘러 싼 여러 보편적인 정서를 다룬 신작들을 선보입니다. 이 전시를 통 해 'Home'에 대한 공시적 의미에서의 한정적 개념에서 벗어나 그 사이에 얽힌 촘촘한 관계망을 다시 되짚어 보거나 다층적 사회 현 상들에 집중하여 여러 맥락들을 시각적으로 풀어내려는 시도로서 소개하고자 하며, 특히 그들의 깊은 내면에 우연하고도 자연스럽게 쌓아올려진 'Home'에 대한 여러 질문들을 관람객들과 함께 나누고자 합니다.
